Evolution

ESTABLISHED DECEMBER 2017

OUR MISSION:

Through its early incarnations as the Graduate Guidance Office, Career Guidance Division, and then as the Internship and Job Counseling Team, this department was a subsidiary of CYCU’s Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Alumni Services. On May 6, 2015, the first industrial college in Taiwan was established, and Professor Chen-Huan Hsiung, former Chairman and President of Tait Marketing & Distribution Co. was appointed the Dean of the College, responsible for planning the College’s development and promoting its work. In February 2016, the Career Guidance Division of the Office of Student Affairs and the Industrial Programs and Internships Section of the Academic Affairs Office were merged to establish the Industrial College Promotion Center, which took on the responsibility of assisting in the Industrial College’s administrative work. The Industrial College Promotion Center worked with the central purpose of developing students’ career-related skills and strengthening cross-domain competence, practical skills, and employability.

In order to better implement its educational philosophy of “realizing one’s potential is a success,” the department was renamed the Office of Career Development in September 2017, with the Career Service Center and the Industrial Talent Cultivation Center under it. The Career Service Center provides career counseling and consultation services to help students explore their future paths. It also organizes a series of career activities with the aim of bridging the gap between students and the workplace and preparing students in advance for their entry into the workplace. The Industrial Talent Cultivation Center, on the other hand, provides students with a wide range of internship information and offers industrial program consultation services, with the aim of enabling students to understand the current situation of various industries, develop the professional skills required by different fields of work, and creating the talents needed by industries.

The aim is to create a platform for students to connect with the industry, strengthen the link between the university and the industry, and help students and alumni connect with the workplace. Through the planning of a series of career seminars, industry field trips, and corporate presentations, we aim to equip students with the professional competencies and soft skills needed in the future workplace, minimize the skill disparity between industry standards and the student body, and guide them to an early establishment of their career trajectory.
